The water sprites and mermaids of 9pm media have been truly in their element in 2016 by delivering full PR support at three events. Working with a variety of print, online and broadcasting media, we realised both a great coverage and reach.
The watersports year has been kicked off by the Mercedes-Benz SUP World Cup Scharbeutz from June 24 to 26. Around 100 paddlers from North and South America, Europe as well as Australia started in the disciplines Sprint and Long Distance, commentated by the well-known german actor and dubbing artist Marek Erhardt. After pausing in 2015, the World Cup celebrated a fantastic comeback.
Just two months later the next event was already on the starting line and we went on to the Pringles Kitesurf World Cup Fehmarn. After spending a decade in St. Peter-Ording, moving to the Baltic island of Fehmarn proved to gain a fresh breeze for all athletes and our team. From August 26 until September 4 we saw great competition in all disciplines Freestyle, Slalom and the debuting speciality Foil. We were especially pleased for Florian Gruber, who was able to win the initially contest of the light wind disciplin.
For the season finale, our team travelled to the Mercedes-Benz Windsurf World Cup Sylt. We worked at the 34th anniversary of the event from September 29 until October 8 and accompanied an early start of the Waveriding discipline. The sole Super Grand Slam of the World Tour furthermore offered close races in Slalom and Foil as well as great Freestyle action at the brandenburger beach.
While all surfers have a short rest during winter, we already prepare ourselves for the upcoming year – we’re already looking forward to the new challenges!
